Road safety research considers past landscapes on specific issues, as well as being future focused. Credible evidence-based research helps shape strategy and guide decision-making in future investment to make WA roads safer for all road users.
In consultation with key stakeholders and the Road Safety Research and Evaluation Advisory Committee the Road Safety Commission (Commission) scopes a planned program of research. Depending on the nature of research, five to ten research or evaluation projects are either commenced or completed each year. Results from completed research papers are presented back to the community at road safety research forums, in collaboration Commission’s road safety stakeholders.
Future research topics include:
- Post crash care - phase 2
- Holistic predictive road safety modelling
- Metropolitan intersection program - evaluation
- In attentional blindness on our roads
